I see…

Today is 20th March 2019 and international day of happiness and as such I thought I would share with you all a happier poem for me relating to my recovery from cancer.  I will let the poem speak for itself, hopefully for any of you who have been through cancer you can relate to what it is talking about, and to those of you who haven’t, its one to help you stop and think about the world around you.

I see…..

I see the beauty in the sky,
Watch the birds as they fly on by.
Seeing the sun as its rays shine through,
Glistening the frost and the misty hue.

How did I miss it before?
Was it there?
I can’t be sure.

I see the beauty in the trees,
Listening to the leaves blowing in the breeze.
Seeing the mushrooms entwined with their core,
And the tracks left by the animals that have walked here before.

Why did I miss it before?
Was it there?
I can’t be sure.

I see the beauty in the river,
Hearing the ducks as they splash and quiver.
Seeing the power behind the weir,
Sending a relaxing noise through my ear.

What made me miss it before,
Was it there?
I can’t be sure.

I see the beauty in the grass,
Smell the scent as the lawnmower goes pass.
Seeing the dandelions and daisies pop through,
Little darts of colour that showed strength as they grew.

When did I start to miss it before?
Was it there?
I can’t be sure.

I see the beauty in the field,
Taste the ripeness of the food it did yield.
Seeing how nature performs on its own,
Watching the bees and the seeds being sewn.

Where did I start to miss it before?
Was it there?
I can’t be sure.

Life got so busy I forgot to stop and stare,
But the beauty is and has always been there.
Life is much more than a bubble around me,
And now once again my senses can see.
